Pastoral Partners Australia was proud to participate in the Climate Investor Forum held in Melbourne last month, where industry leaders, investors, and project developers came together to explore the future of carbon markets and nature‑positive investment.

Our CEO, Ben Sawley, contributed to a compelling panel discussion on how Australia can scale high‑integrity carbon markets and accelerate investment into nature‑based solutions. The session was moderated by Bjorn Everts, Head of Nature Finance at GreenCollar, and featured fellow panellists Rowan Foley, CEO of the Aboriginal Carbon Foundation, and Rebekah Braswell, CEO of Land Life.

The conversation brought diverse perspectives from across the sector, yet a clear consensus emerged: high‑integrity carbon credits and well‑designed nature‑based projects are essential to unlocking capital at scale. As voluntary markets mature, investors are increasingly seeking projects that demonstrate measurable environmental outcomes, transparent governance, and long‑term community value.

Ben highlighted the role of Native Forest from Managed Regrowth (NFMR) carbon projects in delivering carbon sequestration while strengthening regional economies. He emphasised that when carbon projects are grounded in strong land stewardship and supported by rigorous monitoring, they create benefits beyond emissions reduction, including improved biodiversity and the creation of more resilient pastoral landscapes.

The panel also explored the growing expectations of corporate buyers, who are prioritising nature‑positive outcomes, Indigenous engagement, and credible pathways to net‑zero.

Pastoral Partners Australia extends its thanks to the organisers and fellow panellists for a thoughtful and forward‑looking discussion. Events like the Climate Investor Forum play a vital role in shaping a carbon market that delivers real impact for the climate, for communities, and for the landscapes we manage.
